The Download server (sometimes called the Asset Server) is the server that players connect to when loading RuneScape. After downloading any available game updates, players are redirected to the Login server. Occasionally after an update when many people are trying to update their game, it may go offline. The download server a player uses is assigned at random. It is not known how many exist.
