Gollum, originally known as Sméagol (or Trahald), is a major antagonist in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium, as well as Peter Jackson's Middle-earth film adaptations. He is a Stoor Hobbit who was corrupted and transformed into a monstrous creature by the One Ring, which he calls "my precious".
