Niko Bellic (Serbian: Нико Белић, Niko Belić) is the protagonist of Grand Theft Auto IV, and central figure in the IV Chain Story. Niko Bellic was born in 1978 in Yugoslavia, a country located in the Balkans region of Europe that was made up of several ethnic groups, including Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes. Niko's upbringing was difficult due to his father being an abusive alcoholic and the family living in poverty, lacking even the basic necessity of electricity in their home until Niko was twelv
